  I’m Courtney Stearn, physical therapist and movement specialist. I like to call myself a “human body mechanic” because I look at your whole body and figure out how your systems are working together to create movement.
  
  I hate being in pain. No, like seriously, I’m kind of a wuss. I truly believe that’s why I became a PT. I have the opportunity to use my knowledge to help someone lessen their pain and move better. I get to combine my loves of teaching, encouraging, and helping people and I can’t put into words just how much I love my job.
  
  I am an avid learner and am currently taking coursework through the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) with hopes of completing the certification in the next 1-2 years.   I am originally from Hampton, Virginia and married my high school sweetheart. We have been in Charleston, SC for 6 years now and absolutely love our city. We have a very fun little dude who is two years old. He keeps us active with visits to the park, beach, water park, hockey games, East Carolina football games, and just running around in the backyard.

  This isn't the physical therapy you think it is! I specialize in Postural Restoration, which finds the underlying problem and corrects those areas so that you can continue to do the things you love. I perform a full in depth assessment of many of your joints and muscles; we check range of motion, strength, position, and activation to see how your joints are working together. Usually, the problem lies when joints stop working together properly. By activating specific muscle groups, coordination between joints improve and symptoms subside. You may see results as quick as 2 visits!
  
  Injury Prevention/Performance Assessments
  If you are active in running, sports, or just simply enjoy being active, you would benefit from a Performance Assessment. This movement assessment looks deeper into your biomechanical movements and assures your muscles and joints are coordinating appropriately and activating like they should. By eliminating restrictions and improper muscle activations, your risk of repetitive injuries are significantly reduced.
