Comprehensive Eye Exams
At Rosin Eyecare, our comprehensive eye exams are designed to thoroughly evaluate the health of your eyes. Our eye exams are much more than sitting down and reading a wall chart. Because we work to ensure your eyes are at optimal health, we test for numerous conditions, go over your family history of eye diseases, and more. Beyond just renewing your prescription and getting fitted for glasses or contacts, these exams are one of the ways Rosin Eyecare works with you to ensure excellent eye health.
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/eye-exams/Contact Lens Evaluation
Technological progress in the design and manufacture of contact lenses has made them an extremely popular option for many of Rosin Eyecare’s patients.
Contact lenses have three distinct benefits:
1. Freedom from having to wear glasses (aesthetics).
2. Improved vision clarity for many, and improved visual performance in physical activities.
3. Without glasses on your face, you’re free to enjoy all of these things in new ways.
While some of our patients view contacts as a cosmetic enhancer to free themselves from glasses, they are still medical products that are placed in contact with your eyes and you shouldn’t take wearing them lightly. At Rosin Eyecare, our doctors will professionally fit first-time contact lens users, as well as take the time necessary to instruct new wearers about how to care for your new lenses. Your eye doctor will schedule a follow-up appointment with you to make sure that your eyes are adapting to the contact lenses appropriately.

Dry eye is becoming a greater concern for more and more people in the United States and it can be especially troublesome for people that live near big cities. Whether it’s environmental stimuli or the modern work experience, more people are experiencing dry eye symptoms than ever. Rosin Eyecare professionals can help treat chronic dry eye and decreased tear production. Your tears are essential in keeping your eyes healthy. Tears create the first barrier from dirt and debris. They provide necessary nutrients to the front of the eye which has no blood supply. Rosin Eyecare professionals can help detect if lack of tear production is the cause of your dry eyes. They can give you tips on how to reduce environmental stimuli and also prescribe medications, such as Restasis, if necessary. A dry eye treatment and eye exam can be the solution to many of your eye worries.

Glaucoma is caused by degeneration of the optic nerve. The pressure inside the eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP) affects this nerve. When the aqueous humor (a clear liquid that normally flows in and out of the eye) cannot drain properly, pressure builds up in the eye. The resulting increase in IOP can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss.
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/glaucoma-chicago/Diabetic Eye Examination
Diabetic retinopathy, or vision degradation due to diabetes, is a common cause of vision loss. Anyone who has diabetes should have a comprehensive, dilated eye exam by an ophthalmologist or optometrist shortly after being diagnosed and at least once a year after that, according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). People with type 1 diabetes should have an exam within three to five years after onset of the disease.
The ADA recommends more frequent eye exams for people who have diabetic retinopathy that is progressing.

Do you suffer from nearsightedness or farsightedness? If so, at Rosin Eyecare we can give you a comprehensive eye exam to test for astigmatism, a condition that you may be at risk for. Astigmatism causes blurred vision due to an irregularly shaped cornea of the eye. While most people have some degree of astigmatism, in larger amounts astigmatism can cause eye discomfort and headaches in addition to the blurred vision.

Do you have trouble focusing your eyes on near objects? At our Rosin Eyecare locations we help people treat presbyopia, a condition in which the crystalline lens of your eye loses flexibility making it more difficult for you to focus on objects up close. While it is not preventable, our doctors at Rosin Eyecare will provide you with a number of options to correct your vision due to this natural condition associated with aging. To correct for this condition, our professionals will provide you with all the options available such as eyeglasses with bifocal lenses, trifocal lenses or progressive (no-line) multifocal lenses. We can also discuss with you contact lens options such as multifocal contact lenses, or if you are interested in refractive surgery that also could be an option. Nature is always going to run its course on your body, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept it.

If one or both of your eyes have taken on a pinkish color, there is a chance that you have an infection of the conjunctiva, the outermost layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids. While the infection, better known as ‘pink eye,’ is very common, it can also be contagious. At Rosin Eyecare, our doctors can identify whether the infection is bacterial, viral or simply an allergic reaction and prescribe a treatment plan so that you do not spread it around to your family and friends. Common conditions still need treatment, so don’t sit back and deal with the symptoms; let us handle it. If you are experiencing itching, a gritty feeling or a discharge from one or both of your eyes contact Rosin Eyecare to schedule an evaluation today.
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/conjunctivitis/Ocular Migraines Treatment
Have you had periods of vision distortion, sometimes followed by a migraine headache? Although it is rare, you could be a victim of ocular migraines. At Rosin Eyecare our doctors will do a thorough eye exam and determine if this is the cause of your symptoms. These symptoms occur in both eyes and can include flashing lights, blind spots or blindness. They typically last less than an hour. Our staff will consider your symptoms and examine you before deciding if you are suffering from this condition. Following diagnosis, the doctor will decide if any management is needed. Take back control of your life. If you have experienced anything close to these symptoms make sure you call Rosin Eyecare today to schedule an evaluation so you can live your life worry and pain free!
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/ocular-migraines/Sarcoidosis Treatment
Another reason to have your eyes checked regularly is for the risk of a disease like Sarcoidosis. At Rosin Eyecare our experienced doctors can perform an eye examination find out if your eye redness and irritation is the result of this condition, which is defined by collections of inflammatory cells in different parts of your body. While the exact cause is unknown, it is important to diagnoses this, as it can have ocular and systemic implications, and may require treatment. Look no further for your eye needs than Rosin Eyecare; call today to schedule an evaluation.
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/sarcoidosis-2/Retinitis Pigmentosa Treatment
Have you or one of your family members had trouble seeing at night? Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited disorder in which the retina of the eyes slowly and progressively deteriorate. At Rosin Eyecare we can examine your eyes to discover if you are one of the unfortunate people suffering from this condition. Because this is a genetic disease, if it has been in your family before it is important to have your eyes checked to assure you do not have this disease, as it can often lead to blindness. Although a cure does not exist for retinitis pigmentosa, there are supplements that you can take to assist in slowing down the deterioration of the retina. Whether this genetic disease has been in your family or you just want to have your eyes checked to make sure your eyes are doing well, give Rosin Eyecare a call today so that you can schedule a comprehensive evaluation!
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/retinitis/Cone-Rod Dystrophy Treatment
Do you have a parent that suffers from cone-rod dystrophy? This genetic disorder is characterized by the loss of cone cells, which are the photoreceptors responsible for both central and color vision. If one or both of your parents has been diagnosed with this disorder, or if you have been experiencing vision impairment, Rosin Eyecare can provide you with a comprehensive eye examination to see if you inherited the gene as well. While there is no cure for the disorder, there are a number of different supplements that can assist in slowing down the impairment of vision. In any case, it is important to have your eyes checked regularly, especially if this genetic disorder runs in your family, so call Rosin Eyecare today to schedule an evaluation for all of your eye care needs.

A cataract is a slow, progressive clouding of the eye’s natural lens. It interferes with light passing through the eye to the retina. Cataracts are caused by a change in the proteins of the eye, which causes clouding or discoloration of the lens. Over time, cataracts typically result in blurred or fuzzy vision and sensitivity to light.
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/cataract-surgery/Pterygium Surgery
How often do you spend time outside? If you are an outdoors kind of person, you are vulnerable to pterygium, an eye condition that causes a growth of pink, fleshy tissue on the white part of the eye. At Rosin Eyecare our established doctors can identify this growth for you and provide you with treatment to correct the issue. While the growth is benign, as it enlarges it can cause burning and itching of the eye, a gritty feeling and blurred vision. It is believed that this growth is the result of exposure to ultraviolet light and irritants such as dust and wind. If you’re experiencing something like this don’t be passive and let the problem get worse. Contact Rosin Eyecare today to schedule an evaluation so you can get back outside to doing the things that you love.
Url: http://www.rosineyecare.com/pterygium-2/Glaucoma Management and Treatment
Almost two and a half million people have this disease, but half do not realize it because there are often no warning symptoms. Glaucoma is known as the silent thief of sight because it silently steals your vision without you even realizing it. If you do not have routine eye exams to check the status of your eye health, glaucoma and other diseases may steal your vision. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the U.S. and the leading cause of preventable blindness. According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, approximately 2.2 million Americans age 40 and older have glaucoma.

In some cases if your eye is red, in pain and your vision is blurry, you may have a more serious condition. Rosin Eyecare’s doctors are professionally trained to distinguish different conditions, and in some cases our staff may find that you have a corneal ulcer. A corneal ulcer is defined by these symptoms, but is actually an infected open sore on the outer layer of the cornea. If this is found, antibiotic treatment must be started immediately because of the risks and long-term damage that a corneal ulcer can potentially cause. It’s always better to be safe than sorry in situations like these, so if you are experiencing any of these symptoms or just want to get your eyes checked out to make sure everything is fine, don’t hesitate, give Rosin Eyecare a call today to schedule an evaluation.
