KCSI's Installation Staff
KCSI’s siding and roofing mechanics are “in-house” employees. That means our staff are paid by the hour and work for our firm full time, year-in and year-out. Important as well, our staff are insurance covered by KCSI, are manufacturer trained, and are true trade professionals. Many of KCSI’s employees have been with us for over 10 years. What does that mean to you? It means unlike our competition, we don’t pay our installers by piece work.
Piece work compensation is the standard for siders and roofers in the DC Metro area. When a “crew” is being paid by the quantity of material they install (piece work), it behooves them to install that material as quickly as possible. Repair to underlying damage to structure, proper installation of underlayment, adherence to state of the art practices, and fit and finish often suffer in this fast paced approach. Piece work also means that the "Crew" are not actually employed by your contractor. They work for a single member or "lead man" of the "Crew" who is compensated by your contractor. The mechanics who do the installation are compensated as 2nd tier subcontractors.
When you use KCSI, our mechanics concentrate on all aspects of the installation. The time it takes to do repairs, properly stage the project, and properly prepare substrate has no bearing on how KCSI’s employee’s get paid. While fit and finish are what we are famous for, it’s what we do underneath your siding and roof that is our greatest asset to you. This approach also has benefits for how we install your new windows, doors and gutters.
